Farewell to Jaguar, by MartiAn. Colour pencil and graphite.
President Bolsonaro is supported by the Brazilian meat industry. Brazil is one of the world’s main producers of cheap meat – either directly through cattle farming, or indirectly through soya cultivation for cattle feed.
Here’s what YOU can do to help stop the Amazon fires:
Avoid cheap meat suppliers, such as international fast-food chains and supermarkets (especially budget ranges)
Cut down on meat consumption. Global meat production has more than quadrupled since 1961 – for no physiological reason. Plant protein is readily available through beans and pulses, which are not linked to heart disease, gout, arthritis, or any other degenerative illnesses (unlike red meat, in particular). Remember that cutting down does not have to mean giving up altogether!
Buy your meat locally either from a butcher or directly from the farmer. Ask them how their meat is farmed – take control as a consumer. If they can’t give you the answers you want about animal welfare or feeding, take your custom elsewhere. YOU are in charge of what you buy and eat!

We now get our veg bag from our local butcher every Friday, and buy 2-3 meals' worth of locally sourced meat. It's made us more inventive in our cooking, and we're actually saving money!
We long time stopped to eat cheap meat and meat at all... if we eat it then it‘s high quality meat from our own country...
